http://liz-marcs.livejournal.com/328621.html

I don't really have a reason for posting this, but I don't really feel I need to. I have no idea as to the validity of the story contained, but the idea behind it is what (i feel) is important, even if it is not.

Many of you may have read this via links from other journals, but I felt that I should break my non-lj posting habits for this anyway.

Crazy Spam
I have read many of the crazy spam messages that are going around, but I have never personally received one of the automatically generated paragraphs to try and get it pass the spam filters.
Now I have, and I post it here for your viewing pleasure! :-)

MyMiniCity
'Borrowed' from [info]halloranelder

Each day, every person who clicks on the link adds towards increasing the population of the city. Only one click per person per day is counted though, so I think I'm going to be clicking a lot at work as well.

Once the population reaches a certain level, then another link becomes active to increase the industry of the city. Only one of the two links can be clicked per person per day. Then it adds transport, security, environment and business.

They don't ask for email addresses or anything like that, it's just the shared links. Nifty, and pretty too.

Just thought I'd tell you that I was in Bali. Not that I'm bragging... No, not at all.
It's very humid over here, but its not too evil. Having lots of fun. I may or may not be checking email if you send me one. :-) Depends on the availability of internet access.
Lara says hi.

Bye Bye for now.

Your Score: House Targaryen

72% Dominant, 72% Extroverted, 72% Trustworthy

Ancient. Noble. Passionate to the point of insanity. Transcending lesser beings, you are of House Targaryen.

You are a dominant personality—in fact, you are the most dominant of all eight house types. You will not suffer yourself to be ignored. You will not suffer yourself to be ruled. The phrase "I will not suffer myself to _____!" was practically made for you. You are willful, arrogant, and exceedingly dangerous to screw with. With a temper like yours, anyone stupid enough to saunter into your line of fire won’t soon forget their mistake.

You are also extroverted, which means that everyone in the world knows exactly what your intentions are. Unlike your cohorts (who hide behind smiles and courtesies and court politics), you think of it as your birthright to come riding in on an enormous dragon, breathing fire and fucking your siblings. Hey, what you lack in subtlty, you make up in style!

Finally, you are trustworthy. Your absurd amounts of power and borderline psychosis are not used unjustly. Unlike many, your general aims are just and true. You we bred for rule, and the fact that you cannot rest until you are doing so is not your fault. If you make up your mind, it becomes reality. Never one for empty threats or vainglorious lies, you can only speak the truth. And the truth is "fire and blood."

Representative characters include: Daenerys Stormborn, Rhaegar Targaryen, and Viserys Targaryen

Similar Houses: Baratheon, Lannister,and Tully

Opposite House: Frey

When playing the game of thrones, you play it to the death.

Evil Feminist - Not the good kind.
One of my friend posted a link to a 'feminist' rant. (I link to my friends journal. Not the article, because I don't want to contaminate my lj with direct contact with the offending material)

http://merinnan.livejournal.com/61005.html

I place it in quotation mark due to the fact that no-one I know would even think that this kind of 'feminism' was okay. As people may or may not know, I'm a big supporter of women's rights, having had to deal with... lets just say the consequences of others mistreating people important to me.
But this 'lady' is just going way overboard. I feel sorry for her poor child. I am furious that such emotional mistreatment of children is allowed.
I am sorry for what she said happened to her earlier in her life, but perpetrating a similar act, just in the opposite direction (gender-wise), does not make it right or better. How can she believe that this is going to fix the world, attempting to turn the wheel the other way. Just because she feels that all men are women hates and oppressors, how does she justify making her own son feel like he is worthless for....

Sorry. I'm going to stop now before I scream at the insanity of it all. So angry at stupid...

What do teachers make?
An excellent speech, for both prospective teachers and 'normal' people alike. This is basically exactly what I think about teachers and teaching. (I'll get there one day...Really I will!)

Roll Call
On a totally random note, I was wondering if I could gather people's details. Email address', real address' etc.
I've screened all comments so that people don't have to worry about their details getting out to the world.
Also strangely enough, please included you name. I'm not sure about everyone's lj names, even if I know you well in person.

Craziness.
I have decided that too much caffeine (RedEye), not enough sleep, a messy room, not enough food, and having to go to work tonight make Jarrod a very 'interesting' individual. I need a hug. But at least I get a break this weekend. It's going to be fun. Just heading down to the beach for nothing but relaxing. *sigh* Why can't it be now. I'm all twitchy and stress-y. Work's going to be fun...

CASA Resources Page

Today society is advanced, right?
Then why do we need organisations such as this one.

In the first document entitled "What is sexual assault?".
Aside from the whole document being what I would consider to be a description of things that even a paramecium should know are morally reprehensible, a few points stuck out as being very basic to me. But obviously not to some of the morally bankrupt members of our society.

=====
Sexual Assault is ANY behaviors of sexual nature that is not consented to.

Consent is defined as "free agreement". It cannot be given if a person:
-is significantly affected by alcohol or other drugs
-surrenders because of force, fear of force, or fear of harm.

Silence does not mean consent.

Offenders come from ALL socio-economic backgrounds.

People rarely lie about sexual assault. It is IMPORTANT to take all allegations of sexual assault seriously.

Sexual assault is the abuse of the power and control that the sex offender has over the victim in order to hurt, humiliate or exploit the victim for their own sexual desires without regard for the harm done.
=====

I really would like to recommend that people take the time to read some or all of these document at some time. They are very insightful, and some people out there could definately do with more information on their rights. Some could also, perhaps, use them to understand their responsibilities, and the consequence of their actions.

PS
For any who are worried, nothing has happened to me. It's just, as some of you may know, a subject that is dear to my heart.

Lara's having her wisdom teeth out today. All will go fine, I am just a bit twitchy because they aren't going to let me sit with her in the recovery room. :-( Not that I really need to sit with her. She's health, young, etc. so there shouldn't be any complications. I just wanted to.

Fun Fun Fun @ Work
Worked 8-12 at Oakleigh Safeway - Liquor Department. There wasn't much to do. No instructions were left as such. I was told that someone would bring me some stock to put away. Was a pretty good shift.

[rant time]
I used all the security tags and there were still bottles untagged. It wasn't one or two. It was rows and rows and rows. grrr. Talking to the other people at the store it was the replacement department managers fault.
[/rant time]

Now for last night at Ferntree Gully - Liquor
It was a really crap night. There was a 16th birthday party at the scout hall behind the store. An open invite party. Really some parents need to be slapped. So many underage/secondary purchase attempts. Police were called at some stage due to the mass of underage nasties hanging around. After the police finally came, the store settled down a bit. I still didn't manage to finish the store in time. It was faced but not filled. I'm just thankful that i got in contact with the person that was opening the store this morning. Otherwise he would have been swearing and cursing my name (You know who you are sir. lol)
When I left at 23:30, there was talk that the police were trying to close the store for the night to reduce risks to staff. The store manager had been called to discuss it. I left before I could find out anymore. I guess I'll find out when I get there today.
Some young guys was involved in an incident out the front of the store. He came in with blood streaming down his face from what I believe was a broken nose. Very messy. An ambulance was called. Fun fun fun...

I'll be back there tonight from 1600-2200. Then 8-13 minimum on Sunday. The funny thing is I have to say I'm working 9-13 at Oakleigh today so that i can do the shift because i haven't had the required break between shifts. I am however going to be paid very well this week. Even after tax. I love public holiday pay.

Anyway that is enough for now. I'll make a laterTM post explaining the 'not happy Jan' post a few days back. Just warning, so please excuse the ranting in advance.
